Queer: Taimi LGBTQ social networking app for friends, community, and content

I took some time to review the Taimi LGBTQ app for iOS and Android. For me, the Taimi social network has been a great way to connect with others in the queer community during this shared experience. The Taimi app and its LGBTQI+ focus has been a refreshing platform for me to meet queer folks from all over the world. While ensuring community safety in needed social distance (during this Covid-19 self-quarantine period), we’ve all been using social media more frequently. With more functionality than any other of its ilk, Taimi is a great way to connect with new people.

Venturing into the colorful yet clean design, the vast abilities to interact undergo a Ru-girl worthy reveal. Like Bumble, Taimi can be geared towards friendships and networking. Facebook-esque statuses and comments, with IG and Snapchat worthy stories, all cover the important bases of social sharing.

Its swipe “matching” is similar to Tinder and is deemed safer dating than Grindr, overall more inclusive than both. Taimi’s account configuration of multiple gender options, other queer spectrum identifiers and specific preferences and kinks may seem like an all-inclusive hook-up hub, but don’t let the sign-up fool you; Taimi is far from typical and so much more than a dating app.

Taimi’s diversity in audience and interaction is top level. It’s easy to come across other interesting individuals you would otherwise not see in systematic friend-of-friend algorithms. Though you can add people you know IRL and relish in local perks, Taimi’s digest can be viewed wide or detailed with an impressive subject range. 

Groups like “Gaymers”, “Gaylarious”, “Gay Friendship” and LGBT Rights and Art have been particularly enjoyable. Speaking with a Bay Area hospital worker and being able to thank them for their service during COVID-19 has been an unexpected, but heartfelt, connection.
